Here is information about the departments that provide City services.
City Manager
The City Manager evaluates the needs of the community and recommends goals and objectives to be considered by the City Council for the delivery of city services.
He supervises the compilation of the annual city budget. He appoints department heads and oversees establishment of personnel policies. He is responsible for administration of state and federal regulations as they apply to the City of Newaygo. In addition, the City Manager carries the Charter-assigned authority to enforce all laws and ordinances in the city.

Clerk and Elections
The City Clerk is the official record keeper for the City of Newaygo. This person also possesses the duties of facilitating official meetings and boards/commission appointments as well as assists the public in accessing public documents and information.
Along with the duties as City Clerk he/she also administers elections and voter registration in accordance with State and Federal Law.

Our Mission is to reduce the fear and incidence of crime, enhance public safety and enforce laws of both the State of Michigan and the City of Newaygo. We will do so by working in partnership with all citizens and the business community in the City of Newaygo.

Water and Sewer
The water you drink is yours to protect!
Most residents within the City Limits are supplied water from the City's Water System, which is taken from ground wells. Learn how you can protect the water you drink by going to our home page and reading the article on Wellhead Protection Area
Water/sewer bills are sent out around the 9th of each month and due the 25th of the same month. There is a mail drop off box located by the double entrance doors off the parking lot behind City Hall for your convenience. You can sign up to have your bill automatically deducted from your bank account each month (call 231.652.1657 ext. 210) or click here to pay your bill online.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) is open from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm. If the DPW is needed after 3:00 pm, we can be called on the emergency phone at 231.414.7311, but if the problem is determined to be the customers responsibility, you may receive a bill for our time.
Property owners are responsible for all private water lines from the curb stop shut-off valve near the property line to the house. Property owners must check all possible issues listed in the link below before City employees are dispatched. If dispatched, the property owner will be charged up to $90.00 if the problem is found to be owners’ responsibility.
Streets:
The Streets Department is in charge of maintaining the City streets, sidewalks, storm drains, and street signs. The Department of Public Works is open from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm.

The building inspector is in Newaygo on Monday and Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. For all other times, please call and make an appointment.

City of Newaygo Treasurer
The City Treasurer is responsible for performing professional fund management, tax administration, financial administration, including budget control, investments, accounting and auditing. She keeps and deposits all money or funds in such a manner and only in such places as the council may determine, reporting the same detail to the city manager.
The City Treasurer also collects payments for city taxes and all other fees and payments. In addition, the treasurer plays a principal role in municipal borrowing, manages tax title accounts and superintends tax foreclosure proceedings. Overall, the treasurer serves as the municipality's cash manager.

Assessor's Office
The assessment of properties for the purpose of property taxes is the responsibility of the assessor or supervisor of each individual city, village and township within the State of Michigan. The assessor is accountable for two basic duties when assessing their municipality.
The assessor must inventory and list all properties within the City. Then all taxable property must be justifiably appraised each year in accordance with the Michigan General Property Tax Laws.
